Is ICL eye surgery painful?
The procedure doesn’t cause any pain. There might be a little pressure during the whole process. After the procedure, for the next three to four hours, there can be some discomfort but that is easily taken care of by simple medicines. One should contact their ophthalmologist in case there is any pain afterwards.
How does ICL surgery feel?
The eye-drop anesthesia used in the ICL surgery meant that I was completely awake during the whole procedure, but I didn’t feel any pain – it just felt like there was some pressure on my eyes – and the surgery was over before I knew it. I also didn’t feel any pain after the surgery, even once the anesthesia wore off.

Can I wash my face after ICL surgery?
Generally speaking, you should wait at least 24 hours after LASIK before washing your face. This is the same guideline that we give our patients for showering. As with showering, you need to avoid getting soap and water in your eyes for a minimum of several days.
Can you drive after ICL surgery?
As ICL surgery is an outpatient surgery, you’ll be able to go home the same day. Most of the time, patients can see well enough to drive. However, we do not recommend that patients drive on the same day as the surgery.
Can I cry after ICL?
It’s okay to cry after LASIK. Whether your eyes are watery or you happen to cry for an emotional reason, natural tears won’t harm the corneal flaps or hinder the healing process. Crying can actually help keep your eyes lubricated.
How long does glare last after ICL?
Glare and halos will generally last for at least two to three weeks, though can often last up to a month or longer.
Will I need reading glasses after ICL surgery?
Glasses may still be required for some activities after treatment, particularly reading in older patients, but these will be a low prescription and relatively inexpensive. Over 95% of patients are satisfied with the outcome of surgery, and many describe it as life changing.
Can I rub my eyes after ICL?
Rubbing your eyes is never recommended, but doing it after ICL won’t be especially harmful. Because the ICL sits deep inside the eye, you won’t damage it by touching the surface of the eye.
How much rest is required after ICL surgery?
Most patients experience the optimal effects of the implantable contact lens procedure in about one to seven days. The total recovery period for ICL eye surgery is relatively short. Your eye should be completely healed within one to two months. As you age, you may need to update your ICL prescription.
Can you rub your eyes with ICL?
